It's an exciting time, and we're right behind you! We can help you in every aspect of your journey, from applying for your provisional licence, to booking your theory test, to what to expect on the big day you take your practical test.
Here's the answers to some common questions our students have.
We always recommend you book your theory test as early as possible. This is to ensure that you learn the rules of the road as you become acquianted with driving itself, but also so you can concentrate on moving forward towards your practical test.
You can book your theory test online through the Driver and Vehicle Standards department, via the gov.je website.
Once you're started with us, this will come around sooner than you think!
Like the theory test, you can book your practical test online, via the gov.je website.
No worries! We're very happy to provide any help and answer any questions you might have. Send us a message using the form below, or contact us using the contact details at the bottom of this page.
Great to hear! You can book your lessons right here in just a couple of minutes.
We try to accommodate the busy lives of our students, so understand that from time to time, it may be necessary to cancel a lesson. We permit such cancellations provided a minimum of 24 hours notice is given, since the instructor's time has been paid for. A lesson fee to the value of the rate you are currently being charged therefore applies if the required cancellation notice period is not sufficient.
If you are sick or ill, then a phone call on the morning of your lesson before 8.30am will be sufficient. In these cases, a refund can be provided by drive.je, on provision of a Doctors medical certificate.
When your driving instructor feels you are at the adequate level for the DVS practical test, they will advise you to go online or visit the DVS and book a practical test. Before you purchase the practical test you must check with your instructor to ensure the car is available for that test day and time.
If you purchase a practical test without the knowledge of your instructor and they feel you are not at the adequate level to be considered for the test then they will ask you to move the test to another day.
On the day of the driving test the Driving Instructor will book you in for a lesson the hour before your test. The instructor will prepare you for the test, accompany you to the DVS and hand in your licence and theory test certificate to the examiners office. The instructor will wait for you at the DVS and will be briefed by the examiners on whether you have passed or not.
Payment for the test to drive.je will be the equivalent of two lessons, one for the hour before the test and the second is for the hire of the car for the test.
Should there be any outstanding accounts once you have passed your test, then you will be contacted by the Drive administration by email to inform you of the outstanding balance owed. If the account is not settled within seven days then the debt will incur interest and an administrative fee and it will be passed on to a debt collection agency.
A booking fee of £2.50 is payable to every package purchased through drive.je including block deals or vouchers. We charge this fee to administer the booking process on your behalf between you and the instructor and to contribute to the cost of administering your funds in the Client Account. The administrator will also contact you when the block deals are complete for further purchases during the tuition process.
Please could all pupils ensure they bring their valid Jersey provisional licence with them to every driving lesson. Failure to do this will mean the instructors will not take you for a driving lesson and it will incur the cost of the lesson.
